Pól Ó Gallchóir is the chief executive of TG4 which is based in Galway in the west of Ireland.
Mr Ó Gallchóir has spent more 30 years working in public service broadcasting in Ireland. After qualifying with a university degree in history and politics, he joined Raidió na Gaeltachta – the National Irish Language Radio Service.
In 1980, Mr Ó Gallchóir moved to national public service broadcaster RTÉ and worked as a journalist for seven years. He returned to Raidió na Gaeltachta as a regional manager and in 1994 was appointed chief executive of Raidió na Gaeltachta.
In April 2000, Mr Ó Gallchóir was appointed chief executive of TG4, the national Irish language public service broadcaster which was part of RTÉ.
In 2007, TG4 was established as an independent legal entity and Mr Ó Gallchóir was re-appointed as chief executive.
